What We Do

Remediation and Monitoring of Groundwater Contaminated with TNT and RDX

Monitoring of Contaminated Groundwater

Location: Umatilla Chemical Depot, Hermiston, Oregon

Client: US Army of Corps of Engineers, Seattle District

EMR was contracted to conduct weekly and monthly O&M of the existing groundwater pump and treat system designed to provide hydraulic containment of a large TNT and RDX groundwater plume by extracting groundwater at a rate of 1,300 gallons per minute. EMR monitored and completed granular-activated carbon change-out as required, conducted groundwater sampling, and laboratory analysis of select monitoring wells and remediation system influent and effluent. A Lagoon Amendment Pilot Project was also completed, including the design and modification of the existing pump and treat system for the completion of a sustainable and accelerated in situ bioremediation pilot project.
